Commercial slipway
Some of you will be aware there was recently an incident onthe commercial slipway where a customer tried to self-launch their boat and accidentally drove their trailer off the end. This was unsafe and resulted in the commercial slipway having to close for several hours whilst a crane recovered the trailer. A positive from the incident was seeing how well everyone worked together to speedily resolve the issue. We’d like to thank everyone involved with the recovery of the trailer.
Please play your part in keeping everyone safe by not using the commercial slipway to self launch. If you’d like to use the slipway most of the local park and launch companies offer a ‘casual launch’ service and will launch you for a one-off fee. Alternatively, if you would prefer to self-launch, your only option in Pwllheli is the slipway in the outer harbour operated by Total Boat Sales.
Tony's Top Tips
Be prepared for an emergency...
Would you know what to do in the event of an emergency on the pontoons? Have you noticed our SOS stations on the pontoons? Next time you’re down please take a moment to locate your nearest SOS station.
Did you know?
- Inside each SOS station is a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit to be used by anyone in the event of an emergency.
- When you sound the alarm at the SOS station it sounds a loud alarm from that station. The alarm isn’t linked to the emergency services or the Hafan offices. Please remember this and make sure you call emergency services on 999 if required and also call us 01758 701219 (office hours only) / 07502 872607 (any time).
Waste management
We need your help getting the rubbish right! The Hafan has great waste disposal facilities but it’s surprising how little waste separation goes on. Please can you help us reduce our impact on the environment by separating your rubbish. We’ve received reports of flares being placed in the skips - this is extremely dangerous and cannot continue. Please ensure you do not place flares in the skip. If you see this happening or notice flares in the skip please let a Hafan team member know immediately.
It has also come to our attention that the waste facilities are being used by non berth holders. We are currently investigating various options to tackle this, which may include improved signage, fitting gates and CCTV.
J and Lisa - Bon Voyage!
We would like to wish J and Lisa the very best as they set sail at the end of May for the Globe 40 double handed around the world race. J and Lisa spent 9 months in our secure compound preparing their boat Wilson for this epic adventure and a further couple of weeks on the water in the marina completing their final preparations. They’ll be in all our thoughts over the coming months and we look forward to providing updates on their journey.
Team training
You may have noticed we have been doing a lot of team training recently. In order to remain in date we will be conducting regular ‘in house’ training. We’ll try to conduct this training with minimal disrpution but on some Wednesday afternoons the office will be closed for 1-2 hours in order for us all to train together. During these periods we will always be contactable for emergencies via the office mobile 07502872607.
