Stormy New Year
Well what a winter we are having, with so many named storms battering our coastline. The Hafan team have been out in all weathers making sure your vessels are safe and secure over this challenging time! Like you, we’re looking forward to better sailing weather.
Fees and charges
As reported in the last newsletter our fees and charges for 2024/2025 have been released and are now on the website. We’re working with our booking management system, Havenstar, to send out the copies electronically. We’re hoping in the next week or so they should land in your inbox. Please check your junk folder regularly in case it gets put in there.
Once you receive the contract, please sign and return as soon as possible, as any cancelled berths can be reallocated to our healthy waiting list. Some annual berth holders have outstanding charges from previous transactions. These need to be cleared before sending any contracts.
Dredging
Some good news to announce, with plans afoot to empty the stilling lagoon to allow a dredging campaign to be carried out in the spring time. This is on top of the dredging that will take place at the harbour entrance. Whilst we’re happy to announce this, a note of caution is that we will only be able to extract a minimal amount from the marina basin, due to the capacity issue in the stilling lagoon. Officials are working on a longer term solution to maintain the designed depth.
Fuel quay
The fuel quay is now operational, with two standalone payment pods, which will ensure continuation of service if one goes down. Please familiarise yourself with the new system when you’re on the pontoon.
Please note the fuel quay will be unavailable on the morning of 4th March for essential maintenance work on the network connections.
Preparations
The winter maintenance continues at pace with all the necessary cleaning, clearing and making good. The team have started power-washing the pontoons, so please be aware of workers on the pontoons during your visit.
Andy Green
Delighted to announce that Andy, our Havenmaster, has returned to work following a challenging period for himself. He is currently on a phased return to work and I’m sure you’ll join us in welcoming him back when you see him on site.
