New handbook
The 2021 edition of the Hafan Pwllheli handbook is now available for download. The booklet includes information on the marina's facilities, boatyard services, 2021 tide tables, pilotage notes and local services. Download a copy now (5mb) from the website. Please note the handbook will not be printed in hard copy format this year due to the uncertainty around the pandemic and the importance of reducing potential sources of virus transmission.

Keeping an eye on your boat
Although access to the marina is still affected by the coronavirus lockdowns, the marina remains fully operational. Please rest assured that the Hafan team is looking after your boat and carrying out daily inspections on the pontoons and the hard standing. We check mooring ropes, loose sails, covers and generally anything that does not look quite right.

If you want us to take a closer look at your vessel and check inside, we are happy to do so providing we hold a spare set of keys in the office. Please call or email us.

New lifeboat expected April 2021 The new Shannon Class lifeboat earmarked for Pwllheli is due to arrive in April. It will be housed in the brand new RNLI lifeboat station on the marina site. When called upon, this will be launched by tractor into the sea off Abererch beach.

Keith Williams retires after 30 years' service
Hafan's Assistant Manager Keith Williams has announced his retirement after 30 years' service. He joined the marina in 1992 from Land and Sea in Abersoch.  Originally employed as Bosun in charge of boat movements and storage of vessels ashore, Keith was promoted to Assistant Manager in 2007. As well as deputising for Wil in his absence, Keith was responsible for overseeing the hoist operations, fuel quay, boat storage and all other outdoor maintenance and operational aspects required to keep the Hafan ticking over on a day-to-day basis.

Keith’s experience and wealth of knowledge will be missed but all the staff wish him well in his retirement.  As a grandfather to four very young children (three of whom are triplets), Keith and his wife Margaret will have plenty to do. Keith also enjoys restoring classic cars and recently completed the rebuilding of an MGB GT. Other hobbies include walking and the couple plan to complete the Welsh coastal footpath when it’s safe to do so.

Customer focus is on 'staycations' BJ Marine has reported there is currently a lively market in new and used boat sales. The company is experiencing some of the fastest turnaround times on the sale of boats. It seems many clients are searching for leisure items that can used in home UK waters. Said BJ Marine's Mike Caplan: "We have had several recent examples whereby we have listed a boat and agreed a sale within the same week!" If you would like to discuss selling, buying or trading up please give Mike a call on 01758 612686 or email mike@bjmarine.net.
