We’re sure the better weather will be here soon??
Although we were promised longer days and warmer weather, it hasn’t materialised yet! But with milder, warmer weather promised this weekend, and a Bank Holiday, hopefully you can get out and enjoy some time on the water!
Dredging
Dredging that was due to take place in May has been delayed due to operational issues by the contractor. An alternative date of early July was proposed, but as a team we thought it would have too much an impact on your navigational routes during one of the busiest period of the year. We are working with the contractors to identify a suitable date.
Webcam
As part of an upgrade on the CCTV system on site, we’ve ordered a webcam that will be accessible on our website. We’re hoping in the next few weeks for it to be operational, having a broad view of the harbour area.
RNLI Jumble Sale
The Pwllheli Lifeboat station will be hosting a Boat Jumble Sale, and other attractions, on Saturday 25th May, 2024 between 10am and 2pm. They are asking for any donations, with a trailer currently parked up outside our office building, so you can recycle any of your boating equipment. It was great to see the D-class being returned to service recently and are grateful as always for the dedication and commitment of the volunteers.
And finally ... sad news
It was a shock to us all here in Hafan Pwllheli on hearing the sad news about Ruth James. Her death has hit us all here, with staff, customers and the wider Pwllheli community impacted by it. As a berth holder of over 15 years, and a stalwart of the Pwllheli Moorings and Berth Holders Association as their secretary, she had a significant impact on us all in one way or another. Our thoughts are with Bodhan and her family at this sad time.
Another stalwart to Pwllheli was Jonathan Abrahams (JKA) who passed away following a short illness. Jonathan was an accomplished sail maker, sailor and campaigned on many boats including his great success on the 1720. He helped enormously with racing in the bay and all sailors with his sound advice regarding sails and setup. Jonathan will be missed by all and we send our condolences to the family.
