The summer passed us by!
We’ve all been disappointed by the weather this year and while some of you have taken advantage of the rare good days, we know most of you haven’t had the chance to fully enjoy the waters of Cardigan Bay. Summer passed us by.

Dredging
Dredging is due to start on Monday 30th September and will run through to 30th October. The dredging team will be working seven days a week, with operating hours between 07:00 and 19:00. Our contractor, Royal Smals, has been tasked with dredging areas around the marina and Plas Heli basin, the fuel quay, dock area and some parts of the channel. This will be done by cutter suction and pumped into the lagoon on the island across the way from the marina.

A Notice to Mariners has been released, which can be viewed on our website. We ask for your patience while the work is ongoing and please exercise extreme caution and good seamanship when navigating in the channel or in close proximity to the dredging vessel.

Meet our new Harbourmaster and Deputy Manager
Welcome to our new Harbourmaster and marina Deputy Manager, Sarah Hattle. She will be shadowing our current Harbourmaster, Wil Williams, ahead of his retirement early next year. Sarah joins us from the military veterans charity Help for Heroes having spent over 20 years in the Royal Navy. I’m sure you’ll join us in welcoming her to the role, and please say hello to her when you see her.

Future plans for Pwllheli harbour
We are delighted to announce the publication of a Long Term Strategic Plan for Pwllheli Harbour. A copy has been sent to the PMBHA and will be available soon online. Initial cornerstones for the success of the plan lie in four areas: dredging, pontoons and piles, long term investment and co-ordinated decision making.

Funding has also been secured through the Asset Management Plan for Cyngor Gwynedd of £5.4 million towards a sustainable dredging campaign alongside the refurbishment of the pontoons and piles. In addition a further £260,000 has been provided through UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund to begin the process of upgrading facilities along North Quay. Other projects in the pipeline include a nature and leisure project on the old island site.

A Placemaking Plan for Pwllheli is in draft publication. This will potentially release significant investment into the town and areas within the harbour.

Trolley tokens
Do you always get to the trolley park and realise you have no pound coin! Well worry no more. We have a supply of coin tokens that you can use instead. They’re made of recycled materials and will be a great addition to your Hafan lanyard and fob. Pop in to the office to collect yours next time you are down.

Webcam
Well we knew installing a webcam would be popular. However we never thought it would get such a massive ressonse. Latest figures indicate 31,115 views in June, 28,332 in July and 64,061 August. Did you know we have a live weather station based in the Hafan? Check it out on the weather page on our website where you will also find external links to the shipping, sailing and surfing forecasts.
